wife swap weekend

what does it mean when you feel more tired on sunday evening than you felt on friday afternoon? in my case this means that i spent my weekend with my crew on the location of wife swap - the production i am currently working on. i love filming and all that comes with it, so who cares that i am knackered and that the new week is about to begin with no rest por moi. when you have a good time and you feel like you spend your weekend purposely, it's worth it.

and because, i believe that in my case, pictures say more than words, here they are to sum up my weekend...

saturday AM - leaving the capital to meet my crew in sala, roughly 60 km's/ 40mins on the train.

saturday PM - we travelled to a local farm (sounds more fancy than it actually was) with plenty of not at all groomed dogs who were seriously strange...

this is the little lamb we had for dinner yesterday and lunch today. i had a moment of weakness though, it was just so cute :(

i could not resist taking a picture of these oddly looking clocks. they are someone's real decoration, can you believe it?! :)

and second to the last one is a memory of the ending evening (almost morning) in the hotel lobby. we befriended the receptionist, a 50 year old very talkative woman, and this polar bear family. they are my favourite find of this weekend. apparently they were given to the hotel by one guest who wanted to express his gratitude. cheers guys!

oh well, you can't enter the day without breakfast, can you?
@hotel central, sala

last week of february is upon us, the winter seems to be almost over - i feel like i totally missed it (apart from few freezing days) - so let's make the most out of it. will be back in march! x

birth town of bratislava

i might have sneaked out for a while but this means that "hurray" there is a new job venture for me. and who would have ever guessed this new challenge would be waiting for me in the town where i was born. so here i am in bratislava. i was very apprehended about living here, i wasn't sure if or how i would fit in. well, i can't say that i am settled or anything like that as i don't really have many friends living here with whom i can hang out, but it's not as bad as i imagined. i miss the social life i had in prague that is for sure, spending most of my free time with my grandma or my (new:) macbook is not fulfilling. i am planning many weekend trips to my town though, hopefully this weekend will be mine!

let's take a look at few snaps from blava:

this is my favourite pharmacy, since i was a child, i loved to go there and hoped one day this will be mine, i loved the smell inside, it was so so cool! oh well, i'm not a pharmacist and this place is a wreck now - who knows though, one day i get rich, buy it, refurb it and find myself a pharmacist to run it :)

i also have to mention my BF who came to see me, so i can socially interact, go out for a drink and have lovely post breakfast coffee and cake in my favourite little coffee place shtoor
ta for coming over b.

and the last one is of me and my new glasses. yes! finally after millions of years of having rubbish glasses that i was ashamed to take out on the street, i managed to get myself new ones. do you like them? i certainly do :)

sunny time in the mountains

so i was invited to visit my friends and their parents in a lovely new build cottage in jizerske hory. and since i don't have a car, i had to figure out how to get there by bus, strangely it was pretty straightforward and in under two hours i was there. and it was not even midday, it was freezing and sunny and there was snow everywhere. lots of snow. it was like being in a little winter fairytale.

when i woke up the next day, i had to get some fresh mountain air to my room, the sun was just rising, it was amazing!

unfortunately for me, i have arrived with bit of a cold (and lost my voice during the first night), so i was not able to enjoy the nearby ski slope. i did not stay at home though, i had to at least check out the local "ski-stall" and their "krakonosuv kelimek" (cappucino with amaretto) - they also sell another crowd-pleaser "vlekarovo tajemstvi" (hot chocolate with coconut liquer) - i will definitely have that one next time when i return there :)

overall it was a great day and a half, i wish i had more time to stay there longer. it was not just the snow and the surroundings that i have enjoyed, it was the company too. very nice time i had.

the past three days

"well hello sunday morning!" i say. "what have you been up to for the past three days?" sunday morning asks.

i think these pictures speak for itself. so let's start with thursday:

it was meant to be an evening with a bit of culture in the form of a theatre play. however my friend got it all wrong and there was no theatre that night. instead we staged our own play at lokal with beers and greens. well, what else is there for miss green to drink... :)

on friday it was much calmer evening. i went to babysit my friends' kids, so they could enjoy time for themselves. it was such a quiet night and they were well behaved. so this snap above is from my journey there - a very strangely looking man with hood on, a long white beard and weird sandals (and yes, it was freezing outside) - and i wasn't the only one whose attention he caught...

and finally yesterday was filled with my new obsession of downton abbey tv series and making quiches. because i am going on a brunch today, i made one pumkin & spinach quiche (picture above) and a typical one - quiche lorraine (tried it for breakfast and it tastes good!)

in the evening i had a first taste of this year's grand restaurant festival and went with my gourmet friend to essensia restaurant at mandarin hotel. it was delicious and i felt spoiled. the service for very good and really, i think they totally get the purpose of this festival. kudos to marketing department!

happy new dragon year!

so here we have it - a new chinese year! 2012 is the year of black water dragon. and i am certainly looking forward to it - because - i read today that i have lucky element "water" and this means it should be great for me :) well, it literally says this: " It's very good, 2012 is a strong Water year. There is nothing can stop the luck coming to you. You can feel it and people can see good luck over you all the time." so let's see what happens, i am actually getting bit excited about this year of dragon now.

if you want to check what your lucky element is, go to this website: http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/Chineseastrology.htm

it also said i should get something red or if not, at least green - so i bought this wizard of oz necklace and got both. i hope it will bring me all the good luck i need for this year.

btw it's from etsy and this girl has lot more cute things - check it out: http://www.etsy.com/shop/PenelopesPorch

on route to prague

it was another very short trip to bratislava, however i had very nice time with my mum and my grandma who got bit injured in the morning but kept smiling as she always does. i sometimes wonder how she does it. so, here is a wish for her - get your arm back in order! love you x

and not to forget my mum, here's a song she recorded when she was roughly six years old and she was very shy to sing it - http://soundcloud.com/tvtezz/vrstiek#
it's just so cute :)

blue monday

~^well, apparently today is the most depressing day of the year~^

it's certainly good to know that from now on, it will be just better. so that's why i dedicated this day to make an excellent pumpkin risotto and watched the golden globes - yes, it was dedicated to myself.
